Video Contest

The 2012 Northeast Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Conference (NELGBTC) is running a video contest from June 1, 2011 to February 15, 2012 asking participants to submit videos showing why they want to attend the conference at The Sage Colleges in 2012. These videos will be uploaded to the official NELGBTC Facebook page and voted on. The video receiving the most "likes" - counted as votes - will receive a "scholarship" to the 2012 NELGBT Conference for one (1) individual. The winner will receive an official "scholarship" for one (1) person to the 2012 NELGBTC that includes a) conference registration waiver, b) hotel accommodations in Troy, New York on Friday, March 30, and Saturday, March 31, 2012, and c) two backstage tickets to meet with Kate Clinton, the conference keynote.

Video requirements

  1. Video must be no more than 120 seconds (two minutes) in length.
  2. Video can feature more than one individual however, only one (1) prizein the form of the “scholarship” will be provided for a single individual.
  3. Avoid profane language, violence, sex or personal attacks on people ororganizations.
  4. Avoid violating copyright laws or using brand names or logos. Youagree to indemnify the 2012 NELGBTC and The Sage Colleges for any claim,demand, judgment, or other allegation arising from your possible violationof someone's trademark, copyright, or other legally protected interest inany way in your video. All contest submitters agree not to make anycommercial use of those portions of their submissions which use the 2012 NELGBTC or The Sage Colleges trademarks (including sage.edu) without priorwritten approval from the 2012 NELGBTC or The Sage Colleges.
  5. Your video may not contain any endorsement, solicitation, commercial,or similar content advocating for or against candidates for office, orcommercial products.
  6. Your video must be original content for this contest. Do not submit avideo that has been submitted elsewhere.
  7. Videos must be submitted to theNELGBTC page on Facebook.
  8. Be able to provide the 2012 NELGBTC with an original video file if youwin.

By entering the contest, you grant the 2012 NELGBTC and The Sage Colleges a perpetual, royalty-free license to use your video, in any media, for standard related and other commercial purposes. You grant the 2012 NELGBTC and The Sage Colleges permission to edit, modify, format, or adapt your video for the 2012 NELGBTC purposes at the 2012 NELGBTC sole discretion. Except for the in-kind prize ("scholarship") awarded to the winner of the video contest, no other compensation in any manner will be paid to any entrant of the video contest for the submission to the 2012 NELGBTC or the 2012 NELGBTC's future use of the video in any manner. If you want to remove your video from the competition, you may do so by requesting the 2012 NELGBTC delete your video from its competition prior to the announcement of the winner. There is no limit on the number of videos someone may submit.

Winner Selection

*Please note: We have extended the video contest to February 15, 2012.

Throughout the contest videos will be voted on by Facebook users. The video with the most "likes" at 8:30am, February 15, 2012 will be declared the winner. A single individual will be declared the winner and notified by phone and email. An announcement will also be made on the Facebook page as well as nelgbtc.com.

The winner will receive an official "scholarship" to the 2012 NELGBTC that includes a) registration waiver, b) hotel accommodations in Troy, New York on Friday, March 30, and Saturday, March 31, 2012, and c) two backstage tickets to meet with Kate Clinton, the conference keynote. Additionally, the winning video will be posted on nelgbtc.com and the 2012 NELGBTC official Facebook page and screened at the 2012 NELGBTC.

Privacy

The personal information you submit on the entry form will only be used to contact you in the event you win the contest or if there is a question or issue regarding your video or its content. We will not disclose, give, sell, or transfer any personal information about you, unless required for law enforcement or by statute. As your video will be made available to the public, you should not include personal information about yourself or anyone else. All information collected on the entry form will be deleted at the conclusion of the contest. The 2012 NELGBTC and The Sage Colleges is using Facebook to host the videos for this contest. You are subject to Facebook's use, privacy, cookie, and security provisions also. Those provisions can be viewed at http://www.facebook.com/policy.php.
